« fin d’été 2024»

Wed August 28 Mon September 2

Wednesday evening 28th August until Monday breakfast 2nd September

watercolour of kinnersley castle

Time flies by, but we hang on. It’s now 30 years since I organised the first Made event at Kinnersley in 1995 with a great deal of advice from Jessica Abrahams and support from Kate Henning who had organised an event the year before with Jess teaching and “Whirling Pope Joan” and “Waltzer” playing… Magic…

So … this year’s dance programme offers us a chance to once again enjoy the Swedish dance workshops of Leif & Margareta Virtanen, which were very well attended and greatly appreciated by all last year. Also a course of dances from Poitou will be offered by Benoît Guerbigny and dances of Gascony with Joachim Montbord. In addition there will be a chance to learn some new and exciting bourrées and revisit old favorites in the express workshops.

On the music side there will be an opportunity to enjoy :
Melodion with Jean-Pierre Yvert; Nyckelharpa with Jenny Demaret; Violin with Nina Lachia; Guitar with Sylvain Quéré; Song with Joachim Montbord; Ensemble with Aymerick Tron Alvarez; Hurdy Gurdy with Steve Tyler; Pipes with Anne-Marie Summers; Melodion with Julian Sutton.

Daily timetable

The introduction of the “bal de Midi” between 12 o’clock and 1 o’clock offers a chance for participants to play on the “open stage

During lunch there will be the opportunity to dance tango if the urge takes you !
Music and dance workshops will run morning and afternoon each day followed by an acoustic concert in Saint James Church, dinner and the evening Bal.

Delicious, well balanced vegetarian food will be lovingly created by Orla.

Accommodation in the castle is at a premium and is used primarily for artists! There are many B&B’s in the area and gites to rent. If you have found a good solution but are looking for others to share with then feel free to contact me and I will put you in touch with anyone who is searching for accommodation. If you are having problems finding accommodation then let me know.

For campers there will be a luxury external shower and toilet facility also a small outside kitchen area for cooking your own food.

It was lovely to see everyone last year and enjoy again the marvels of Kinnersley Castle, many thanks to all of the family for the use of this wonderful venue, it’s a real privilege. ….. John
